To an outsider watching one of us, it would be difficult on any given day to tell if the person being watched is really living forever. So, live that way. We live forever every single day until some day we no longer do. That was not today for you or for me. It will likely not be next week either. We are not dead; we are alive forever until we are not. We make the grim reaper prove that we are not immortal. It is his job to do so, not ours!
What a change of perspective. We are not cowering in fear over social security trust funds running dry or nuclear war or terrorist bombings or even degenerative diseases that we may have. All of us live forever today, with our acne and bruised egos and insulin dependence and PTSD. And more so today than ever before, we can view the great art works of the world and get any question answered and take free classes since we are essentially connected to everything and everyone. Not only can we live forever every single day of our lives, we can do so like kings and queens. The average person reading this doesn’t have to worry about polio or water-borne diseases or roaming hordes of savages. Obviously there are millions of people worldwide, including way too many here in the developed world, that lack proper food and shelter and face disease and war. But, if you are fortunate enough to be able to read you are likely able to live forever today.
To turn it around, every day, from the grim reaper’s point of view is our last day. The number of things that could go wrong is numerous. Every night we go to bed not knowing if today really was our last day. We really never know whether death’s threat is real and imminent or hollow as it has been so many times before. We must prove the grim cloaked one wrong every single day; this is our job, not his. We must defiantly rise and face another day of not dying forever. We must have the courage to say “not today”. We can do this every day until one day that we cannot any longer.
To a butterfly it seems that we do live forever. To a star it seems as if we are never born. They are both right! Every moment has the potential to become anything. Every person has the potential to become anyone. Our life is so rich with people and foods and pets and first jobs and first kisses. We can really live forever every day of our lives. We can be the happiest and kindest and most inspiring light in any room. We can work to help those facing wars and disease and famine and loss of hope. We can help spread the ability to live forever to everyone. Have we really ever had a single day, a single moment, a single mistake, a single experience that was not consistent with living forever? How differently would we treat each other, how differently would we treat ourselves, how differently would we treat the planet if we lived outside of fear, and inside the knowledge that we are immortal every single day?
